the original doodle of this went in my scraps [link] but there was something about it that demanded further work. so a bit over a week later, this is the result. I'm ridiculously happy with it :) . mom loves it, and thinks I should write a kids story about it :/ considering that most of the stories I try to write wander off into babbling about zooloical minutae, theories on the nature of the Universe, or stupid puns, i doubt I will =P.

anyway... Colored pencil (as always) on colored cardstock. the Shoji walls and Tatami mats were fun to do, though they required a lot of reseearch and even more time with a ruler. i was also VERY happy to find a color of cardstock (other than white or almost-white) that works on a lightbox. i should go out and try to find more of this lovely tan today.

this will be available aas a print through DAprints as soon as I figure out how to get the color profile right.

FABULOUS...simpley fabulous! hehe ^^ I remember us talking about this! It's so funny..it really does look so natural and right for her to be there O.o...how odd
ALSO..reminds me of Ursala's stuff! That's so cool...O.o..I wonder if she'd make a Samuri to go along with this lovely lady ^^;

Amazing. The pencil strokes in the tail alone are enough to make me adore it! But I also really like the warm colors.

I really like the way you've done the final details to this, within the tail and the fur in general.. beautiful shading on her clothing and her done-up hair! 'N I agree with Wylde.. I don't know the lady, but it certainly seems fitting that she might make a critter to accompany this lovely Edo anteater!

beautiful! I adore giant anteaters. All that ruler work definitely payed off, not to mention how great the hair on her tail looks!

So let go, let go, just get in, oh it's so amazing here. It's alright, 'cause there's beauty in the breakdown.

You SHOULD write a story about it! What a lovely and adorable picture! Or perhaps you could do a series of four different animals in different attire?

it's a flat-ish box with a piece of plastic or glass on the top, and some lightbulbs hooked up inside. they make it much easier to transfer a drawing from one sheet of paper onto another, because you can just put the new paper over the drawing, turn on the lights, and trace it.

Ahh. Now I remember hearing of that. Thanks!
